Silverstone Circuit to get first ever track-side hotel

Advice

Motorsport fans will soon be able to book a stay at the Silverstone Circuit with heart-pumping views of the race action thanks to a new hotel that is set to open track-side in 2020.

The 197-room Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone will become the first hotel at the famous race course: a former RAF airfield straddling the Buckinghamshire-Northamptonshire border, which was first used for motor racing in 1947 and, since 1987, has become the permanent home of the British Grand Prix.

Many rooms will have balconies overlooking the International Pit Straight – a fiercely sought-after position on the circuit where spectators are afforded views of the starting grid and winners’ podium.

The hotel will also feature a roof terrace with views of the track, a restaurant and a coffee shop, and guests will be able to access the events and exhibitions at the Silverstone Wing Conference Centre via a cross-circuit footbridge, as well as taking advantage of hospitality events at the hotel on race days.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president for Hilton’s European arm, said: “We are privileged to open a hotel in such a prominent location on the circuit and we cannot wait to begin welcoming guests to this iconic location.”

While the addition of a hotel is an unprecedented move for the historic race track, it also signifies the growing number of people making the trip to Silverstone each year – a current high of 1.5 million visitors is expected to grow to more than 2 million by the time the hotel opens in 2020.

It also marks another sports-centric expansion for the Hilton brand, which now operates more than 30 sporting venue hotels worldwide, including at Old Trafford football stadium in Manchester and The Rose Bowl cricket ground in Hampshire.
